Integrated X-Range C15 powertrain system converts EVs to hybrids
Horse Powertrain, a joint venture between Renault and Geely Automobile, unveiled an integrated powertrain system that can convert EVs into hybrids, plug-in hybrids and extended-range EVs while keeping an EV-only platform. InsideEVs reported the company introduced the X-Range C15 Direct Drive, designed to replace a rear electric motor and reduce structural changes and investment. The unit integrates a gasoline engine, transmission and two motors, supports all-wheel drive and can add power electronics options.

China\'s EV market slowdown persists; BYD January sales hit two-year low
China\'s electric vehicle market is showing signs of slowing, and BYD\'s January sales fell to the lowest level in two years, CNBC reported on Feb. 5. At least six EV brands including Xiaomi and XPeng recorded sharp drops from December, with some firms reporting reduced figures such as excluding overseas sales. A Bain & Company partner said policy changes and fiercer competition would increase pressure in 2026, after China ended a 10 percent purchase tax exemption for EVs and reinstated a 5 percent rate.

Tesla Model 3 seen entering 30 million won range in South Korea; FSD shifts to monthly subscription only
Tesla’s Model 3 Standard RWD with an NCM battery could enter the 30 million won price range in South Korea on higher 2026 subsidies, compared with LFP versions. Tesla is also releasing a seven-seat 2026 Model Y, with the option limited to a premium AWD Long Range variant. Elon Musk said Tesla will stop selling FSD as a one-off purchase, offering it only as a $99-a-month subscription after the 14th.
