Google to cut free access to Gemini Flash and Pro from Oct 9
Google will stop free Gemini accounts from accessing the Flash and Pro models from Oct. 9, leaving only its lower-cost Flash Lite option. The change also affects Google AI Plus subscribers, who pay $5 a month in the United States, as they will no longer be able to use Pro. Pro will be available only to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, priced at $20 and at least $100 a month, respectively.

Upstage unveils Solar Pro 4, available on OpenRouter and others
Upstage unveiled Solar Pro 4, a commercial large language model with enhanced reasoning and agent capabilities, the company said on Thursday. It has been listed on the U.S. Nous Research Hermes Agent and the API routing platform OpenRouter, the first Korean model to be registered there, Upstage said. The company said cumulative token usage topped 80 billion within three days. It also posted benchmark results and said Solar Pro 4 is applied to its Upstage Studio document-processing solution.

Alphabet revenue up 24 percent on Google Cloud; free cash flow turns negative on AI investment
Alphabet, Google’s parent, said on July 22 that second-quarter revenue rose 24 percent on the back of strong performance in its cloud business. It also said free cash flow turned negative as it continued to increase investment in AI data centres. Alphabet posted revenue of $119.8 billion, with cloud revenue at $24.8 billion and search revenue at $63.3 billion. Net profit was $112.1 billion, and the shares were little changed in after-hours trade.
