OpenAI ends Sora video AI service, completes training of next-generation Spud model

OpenAI has abruptly ended its AI video-generation service Sora, scrapping the app and API, a plan to integrate it with ChatGPT and a $1 billion partnership it had been pursuing with Disney. The Disney arrangement was reportedly only a verbal understanding. The Sora team will shift toward world simulation for long-term robotics research. Alex Heath said GPU allocation was a key factor as OpenAI prioritises Codex and enterprise products.
