Japan FSA seeks tax filing exemption for trust-type stablecoins, aims for 2027 rollout

Japan’s Financial Services Agency has asked for trust-type stablecoins to be exempted from tax filing obligations from fiscal 2027. The request seeks to abolish requirements to submit beneficiary-by-beneficiary trust reports and statements that include names and income information. The agency said the framework does not match how such stablecoins circulate and are used, noting they are frequently traded and do not generate income from simple holding. Any change would require legislative approval.
