Blockchain.com seeks U.S. entry into prediction markets and derivatives, files with CFTC
Blockchain.com has applied for two licences to offer prediction-market and cryptocurrency-derivatives trading services in the United States, CNBC reported. The company has applied for a designated contract market licence and registration as a futures commission merchant, with approvals overseen by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. CEO Peter Smith said users should be able to manage digital assets, trade derivatives and bet on real-world outcomes in one place.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has issued an advance notice of proposed rulemaking on retail crypto trading involving margin, leverage and lending, seeking public comments before drafting formal rules. The proposal outlines two frameworks, CTX and CAM, and would allow venues offering leveraged retail crypto trading to register under existing DCM rules or a new crypto-focused CAM category. It also addresses delivery exceptions, reserves, and customer asset protections.

Polymarket files for U.S. margin trading, seeks futures broker registration
Polymarket has submitted an application to provide margin trading in the United States. If approved, users would be able to bet on events with less capital than usual. The Block, citing the National Futures Association’s BASIC system, reported that ComingHome GBA sought approval related to futures commission merchant registration through PM Derivatives. Full rollout of leveraged trading would also require approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
