Ecopro posts Q1 operating profit of 60.2 billion won, up 4,280 percent
Ecopro said on Tuesday its first-quarter operating profit rose 4,280 percent from a year earlier to 60.2 billion won, while revenue increased 1.9 percent to 822.0 billion won. It cited the consolidation of Indonesia-based GEN smelter results, higher metal prices and a recovery in downstream battery and semiconductor industries. It also reported higher quarter-on-quarter sales and operating profit and a return to net profit.

Ecopro Materials appoints Lee Kyu-bong as new CEO
Ecopro Materials said on March 23 it has appointed Lee Kyu-bong as its new chief executive officer. The company plans to accelerate efforts to raise its self-sufficiency rate for precursors and diversify its customer base by installing an expert in the secondary battery field at the helm. Lee has held strategy and planning and operations roles at Samsung SDI and Ecopro affiliates, including serving as COO at Ecopro Materials.

Nextrade adjusts trading-eligible stocks to 650 to handle surge in volume
Nextrade said on Feb. 9 it will adjust the number of securities eligible for trading execution to 650 starting Feb. 12 to respond to a surge in trading volume amid a market rally. It said combined average daily trading volume at the Korea Exchange and Nextrade rose about 41 percent from 1.675 billion shares in early January to 2.362 billion shares in late January. The top 50 most-traded stocks will be excluded through end-June.
