QuantumScape starts pilot production of solid-state batteries
QuantumScape, a California-based solid-state battery company, has begun operating its Eagle Line pilot production line at its San Jose headquarters, marking a step toward commercialization 15 years after its founding. The company aims to produce 5 ampere-hour cells using nickel-based cathodes and a ceramic separator, while testing output, yield, uptime and quality. It plans to license its technology to automakers and said deployment could begin within 10 years, initially in low-volume high-performance vehicles.
