National AI Strategy Committee reports status of South Korea AI action plan to cabinet meeting
South Korea\'s National AI Strategy Committee reported to a cabinet meeting on Feb. 10 on progress in drafting the \"Korea AI Action Plan\". The national AI execution strategy includes 99 action tasks and 326 policy recommendations. It is built around three policy pillars: building an AI innovation ecosystem, a nationwide AI-driven transformation, and contributing to a global AI basic society. The committee plans to finalize the plan and put it to a vote at a second plenary meeting.

South Korea kicks off major defense AI shift, strengthens civil-public-military cooperation
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said it held a defence AI policy meeting on Jan. 30 with the Ministry of National Defense and the National AI Strategy Committee. Participants agreed that expanding AI transformation across defence is essential for national security and could boost defence and national AI competitiveness. The government plans to provide defence open data in the first quarter to a team working on a homegrown foundation model project and strengthen longer-term cooperation on defence-focused AI models.
