Daytona raises funding at $1 billion valuation, says AI agents need cloud built for them

AI agent-focused cloud startup Daytona has reached unicorn status after securing a $1 billion valuation, TechCrunch reported on Oct. 23. The company raised $60 million in a Series B round led by FirstMark Growth, which also led a $24 million Series A in February. Total funding rose to $91 million. Founders and executives of tech firms joined as angel investors, alongside Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next and Octa Ventures.

Managing AI agents can be as irksome as managing people as workers cite monitoring fatigue

Companies are deploying AI agents at work, but employees say the tools often demand ongoing monitoring, retraining and result reviews, increasing management burdens. A product chief at a British social impact investment platform said a customer support agent drifted beyond its remit and fueled complaints. A Boston Consulting Group report put AI-agent integration at 30 percent, up from 13 percent. BCG described “AI brain fry” from excessive oversight, while others cited compliance, accountability and performance degradation risks.

BYD speeds up solid-state battery commercialisation, first fitment in 2027 and mass production around 2030

BYD will unveil its first vehicle fitted with a solid-state battery in 2027, but has not disclosed the model or mass-production schedule. Executive Vice President Stella Li said BYD is in a leading position in both technology and commercialisation and will introduce one model using the technology in 2027. The plan aligns with a roadmap presented by FinDreams CTO Sun Huajun, which targets demonstrations from 2027 and large-scale production around 2030.
