SKT steps up industrial deployment of A.X K2, accelerating global AI race
SK Telecom is speeding up industrial deployment of its proprietary AI foundation model A.X K2 with 688 billion parameters. The company released the model on Hugging Face and said it improved reasoning, Korean knowledge and long-context performance versus its prior model. SKT plans to expand use cases in manufacturing, defence and bio, while applying lightweight versions to office and consumer services. It also aims to scale follow-up models to trillion-parameter levels.

NIA conducts South Korea\'s first on-site trial of 5G AI-RAN and physical AI
The National Information Society Agency will conduct an on-site trial that combines AI computing functions at telecom base stations with industrial robots. NIA said it has launched a project to deploy and verify integration technology for AI-RAN and physical AI services at industrial sites under a Ministry of Science and ICT programme. The trial, based on a dedicated 5G network, will take place at Hyundai Steel’s Dangjin hot rolling plant and will include multi-robot cooperative control.

Korea\'s K-AI models spread to investigations, manufacturing, K-pop and shipbuilding, ministry says
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said domestic AI models are expanding into criminal investigation support, steel manufacturing, K-pop idol production and shipbuilding and marine services. LG AI Research and LG CNS are using EXAONE for a police AI investigation support system. SKT signed an agreement with KG Steel to test a manufacturing-focused AI agent. NC AI plans AI idol production under a KOCCA-led project. Naver Cloud and HD Hyundai will apply AI to shipbuilding data and services.
