Naver to link search and purchases with \'action AI\', profit ramp-up in H2
Naver is making a shift to connect search to transactions a core task this year, focusing on building an uninterrupted flow from search to purchases and reservations around what it calls “action AI”. The company posted first-quarter revenue of 3.24 trillion won and operating profit of 541.8 billion won. It plans to test generative AI ads tied to shopping and local services from the second quarter and begin full monetisation in the third quarter.

OpenAI steps up ChatGPT ad expansion, early response is mixed
OpenAI is stepping up its advertising business for ChatGPT, but early testers have raised concerns about a lack of measurement tools and low impression frequency. The Information reported OpenAI plans to sell ads to more advertisers in April and is working to simplify ad buying. Early advertisers said they received limited performance data. OpenAI began tests in early February for U.S. free and low-tier users, with pricing at $60 per 1,000 impressions and a $200,000 minimum commitment.

Criteo selected as first adtech partner for ChatGPT ad pilot
Global advertising platform Criteo said on Tuesday it has been selected as the first adtech partner for an OpenAI advertising pilot programme targeting ChatGPT Free and Go plan users. Criteo said its analysis of U.S. advertiser data showed users arriving via large language model platforms such as ChatGPT had purchase conversion rates about 1.5 times higher than other channels. The company said the integration will be applied sequentially over the coming weeks.
