Shinhan Financial sets consumer protection strategy and subsidiary management plan
Shinhan Financial Group said on Monday it has drawn up a group consumer protection management strategy and a plan to manage its subsidiaries, and has created consumer protection committees within the boards of major units. The move is aimed at making consumer protection a core board-led decision-making system. Subsidiary boards will review and vote on related management plans, while oversight will be strengthened, including checks on KPI suitability.

NH NongHyup Bank expands consideration counters for financially vulnerable customers
NH NongHyup Bank said it will revamp its counselling counters for older people and people with disabilities into consideration counters for financially vulnerable customers from Jan. 26. It will expand eligibility to pregnant women and guardians accompanied by young children, defined as customers with children aged 7 or under. The counters provide tailored services, including simpler explanations of complex financial products and guidance based on each customer’s circumstances.

Woori Financial names separate group chief consumer protection officer
Woori Financial Group said it created a consumer protection division at its holding company and appointed a dedicated chief consumer protection officer. It said this is the first case among South Korean financial holding companies to name a holding-company-only CCO rather than a concurrent post. The group will oversee consumer protection policies across all subsidiaries. Woori also completed CEO recommendations for 11 subsidiaries, extending 10 terms by a year and replacing the Woori FIS CEO.
