Security researchers say they accessed OpenAI employee ChatGPT account using Claude

Hacktron AI\'s security research team showed it could access an OpenAI employee\'s ChatGPT account using Anthropic\'s Claude, the Wall Street Journal reported. The team found the issue while participating in OpenAI\'s bug bounty program and reported it immediately. OpenAI paid a $6,500 reward. OpenAI said vulnerabilities were found in Discourse and within OpenAI, and it narrowed token permissions and revoked affected tokens and sessions.

China open-weight models close gap with U.S. closed AI, with costs one-fifth and a 4.4-month gap

Open-weight AI models are rapidly catching up with U.S. big tech’s top closed models, changing how companies deploy AI tools. Mozilla analysed the performance gap at about 4.4 months. Its report said value for money matters more than raw performance, citing Moonshot AI’s open model Kimi K3 and Anthropic’s closed model Fable 5. It said closed models still lead in expert work, intensive search and long-context tasks.

DeepSeek taps first CFO ahead of IPO to step up low-cost AI push

DeepSeek is moving to appoint its first chief financial officer ahead of an initial public offering, as it accelerates fundraising and listing preparations. It is considering Yen Wen-tao of GL Ventures, part of Hillhouse Investment, for the role. DeepSeek has widened market share with low-cost, high-performance models but needs significant funding for chips, computing infrastructure and talent. It has selected underwriters including CITIC Securities and is said to be targeting Shanghai’s STAR Market, alongside pre-IPO fundraising.
