AI is changing motorsports by analysing radio traffic and finding crash traces
AI is being used in motorsports as a technical tool to improve vehicle performance, not just as a sponsor. Chip Ganassi Racing worked with OpenAI researchers this year to optimise car setups by analysing sensor and race data to support engineers’ decisions. AI use is spreading across the sport, with General Motors analysing radio communications and trackside images, and IBM and Dallara exploring faster aerodynamics simulations.
