OpenAI offers advanced AI tools free to academic researchers for one year
OpenAI on Wednesday launched ChatGPT for Academic Researchers, offering science, mathematics and engineering researchers free access for a year to advanced AI research tools including the GPT-5.6 model family and Codex. The programme will begin this summer with 10,000 researchers and expand to up to 100,000 by 2027. It includes expanded deep research access, higher usage limits, life-sciences skills and connectors, with enterprise-grade privacy and security.
