Google cuts AI Plus monthly subscription fee to $4.99 as AI subscription price war spreads to U.S.
Google has cut the monthly subscription fee for its AI subscription service, AI Plus, to $4.99 from $7.99 and doubled storage to 400GB from 200GB, TechCrunch reported. The service includes the Omni Flash video generation tool, Google Flow creative studio and the NotebookLM AI research assistant. A Goodwater Capital co-founder said the move signals the commoditisation of AI infrastructure.

Anthropic accelerates enterprise AI push with business-focused pricing
Anthropic, which develops the AI chatbot Claude, is accelerating a strategy focused on the enterprise market to differentiate itself from OpenAI and Google. It has boosted annualised revenue by concentrating on selling APIs that plug into corporate workflows and on its coding AI, Claude Code. Annualised revenue rose from $100 million in January 2024 to $1 billion in January 2025 and $14 billion in January 2026. Its pricing is also geared toward businesses and developers.

Price competition among major AI companies is intensifying as providers introduce lower-priced chatbot subscriptions aimed at reducing barriers for free users to switch to paid plans.
