SEC to hold September roundtable on 24-hour trading for U.S. stock market
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will hold a public roundtable on Sept. 17 in Washington to discuss expanding overnight trading and options for running a 24-hour U.S. stock market. The agenda includes operational requirements, system resilience and other issues needed to support overnight trading. The discussion comes as major exchanges move to extend trading hours. Nasdaq has begun talks on offering 24-hour trading five days a week, targeting the second half of 2026.

Study flags flaws in Polymarket\'s 5-minute bitcoin bets, calling structure unfavorable to individuals
A study found Polymarket\'s 5-minute bitcoin prediction contracts may work against ordinary traders by encouraging spot price influence just before settlement. Stanford University and Singapore Management University researchers said the short settlement window can create arbitrage opportunities for sophisticated participants. They estimated about $1.28 million shifted from general traders to manipulation participants in the sample period. Extending the contract duration to 15 minutes largely removed the effect, they said.

CME CEO warns crypto perpetual futures could wipe out retail investors
CME Group CEO Terry Duffy (테리 더피) voiced strong concern about U.S. regulators approving crypto perpetual futures, warning they could pose excessive risks to retail investors and harm financial market stability. He said the products often offer leverage of up to 50 times, meaning a 2 percent adverse price move can trigger full liquidation. Duffy also criticised the review process as rushed and said retail investors may not understand funding fees or automatic liquidations.
