Caterpillar partners with Nvidia to develop AI-based construction equipment
Caterpillar is partnering with Nvidia to introduce AI and automation technologies into construction equipment, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 7. The companies plan to equip the Cat 306 CR mini excavator with an AI assistant that answers operator questions, offers work safety tips and manages service schedules. The technology is based on Nvidia’s Jetson Thor physical AI platform. Caterpillar is also testing digital twins and material demand forecasting using Nvidia Omniverse simulation resources.
