Korea media watchdog steps up response after Google leaks information on digital sex crime victims
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media Communication Deliberation Committee is taking follow-up steps after Google improperly provided information on digital sex crime victims, leading to disclosure on an outside organisation\'s website. The committee said it asked Google and the site to delete related posts and began an emergency review in cooperation with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. It also shared the case with international bodies and urged overseas platforms and Cloudflare to strengthen information protection systems.

South Korea to consider \'legal hacking\' to disable illegal spycam sites
South Korea is pushing a government-wide plan to disable websites distributing illegal spycam material by punishing operators and cutting off revenue sources such as advertising and accounts. It is also considering introducing so-called “legal hacking” that would allow investigative agencies to access crime sites directly to delete data or seize accounts. An analysis of 34,628 illegal sites found 6,683 still accessible, including 1,316 run in Korean or featuring Korea-related categories.

Korea media-communications watchdog steps up tracking of \'Newtoki,\' tightens CDN blocking, deletes Telegram channels
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Review Committee said it will strengthen international cooperation with Telegram and step up direct blocking of content delivery network (CDN) operators to curb the spread of pirate webtoon sites such as \'Newtoki\' and related copycat sites. The committee said it issued correction requests for 7,342 cases of illegal copyright-infringing information over about three months, including 2,200 alternative sites. It also plans to introduce electronic reviews in the second half to speed up screening and blocking.
