IBM quantum processor generates 1 million samples in 19 seconds in random circuit sampling test
IBM\'s quantum processor Nighthawk r2 generated 1 million samples in 19 seconds in a random circuit sampling test used to assess quantum advantage. A research team led by Tigran Sedrakian at U.S. quantum software company BlueQubit released a preprint describing the experiment. The team estimated the same task would take about 110 years on a state-of-the-art supercomputer. The report cautioned the result applies only to the specific benchmark and has not yet undergone peer review.
