H1 2026 crypto hacking losses top $1 billion, focus on ethereum and solana
Cryptocurrency hacking losses exceeded $1 billion in the first half of 2026, a survey showed, with the number of incidents the highest on a half-year basis. Cointelegraph, citing on-chain security firm Blockaid, said losses by network were concentrated on Ethereum and Solana. Ethereum losses were about $332 million and Solana about $326 million. The largest single case was a $292 million incident involving KelpDAO.

Verus-Ethereum bridge hacked again after two months, $7.54 million in assets stolen
The Verus-Ethereum bridge has been hacked for a second time in about two months, with $7.54 million worth of cryptocurrency stolen, blockchain security firm Blockaid said. It said the attacker exploited the same vulnerability used in the May breach and triggered unsecured payouts on the Ethereum side. CertiK also detected the hack and estimated losses at about $7.53 million, saying the funds were swapped into 3,916.1 ether and deposited into Tornado Cash.

AFX Protocol estimates $24.15 million loss from bridge attack
Arbitrum-based decentralized perpetual futures exchange AFX Protocol is estimated to have lost assets worth $24.15 million in a cross-chain bridge attack. Cointelegraph reported the incident occurred in a third-party protocol and did not affect the Arbitrum native bridge. Security firm Blockaid said it detected an attack targeting an AFX-operated bridge. Offchain Labs co-founder Steven Goldfeder also confirmed a third-party protocol was affected. The cause and any additional losses remain unconfirmed.
