South Korea\'s science ministry launches AI drug discovery hub, pilot in Daegu
South Korea will build an AI drug discovery research system that links AI models with automated laboratories to identify and validate drug candidates. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it launched a pilot task force in Daegu to operate an AI-based innovation hub for synthetic drugs. The approach feeds experimental results back into model training. Kyungpook National University leads the project with partners including its hospital, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation and Univab.

MSIT steps up \'K-Moonshot\' AI drug mission with stakeholder meeting
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held a meeting on Sunday at Catholic University to collect opinions on the K-Moonshot AI drug mission. The event brought together experts from industry, academia, research institutes and hospitals to share the project direction ahead of its full rollout. The national R&D project aims to apply AI across drug development, including candidate discovery, drug design and efficacy and toxicity prediction, shifting to an AI-based design approach.

National Bio Innovation Committee launches three councils to speed policy drive
South Korea\'s National Bio Innovation Committee has launched three councils to gather policy demand and on-the-ground views in the bio sector. The committee formed a private council, a public research institution council and a data council, and held their first meetings. It plans to collect opinions across the bio industry and connect them to policy tasks and projects. Vice chair Won Hee-mok called the launch a first step to link the field more closely with policy.
