Bell to build 1.2-GW AI data centre hub in Canada\'s Saskatchewan

Canadian telecommunications company Bell will build a 1.2-GW mega AI data centre hub in Saskatchewan, with investment expected to exceed C$50 billion, or about 49.0 trillion won. Bell and the Saskatchewan government signed a non-binding MOU to add up to 900 MW to an existing 300 MW facility, expanding total capacity to 1.2 GW. The expansion requires separate power, with Bell planning a natural gas plant and closed-loop cooling.

KT to expand AI transformation for local governments, unveils 10 public-sector services

KT unveiled AI transformation (AX) services tailored to local government work and public services. It said it displayed 10 public-sector AX services at a local government ICT best-practices event held in Seoul on Sept. 10-11. KT introduced the services across three areas: work and security, communication and administration, and safety and AX. Its Gyeonggi-do 5G work network was selected as an outstanding case and won a prime minister award.

Upbit, Seoul to hold finance Golden Bell event for young people

Dunamu, which operates digital asset exchange Upbit, will hold an interactive education programme with the Seoul city government to improve young people’s understanding of finance. The event, titled the “Seoul x Upbit UpClass Finance Golden Bell,” will take place on Sept. 19 at the main stage of Moonlight Square in Banpo Hangang Park. Questions will cover basic asset management, credit and loans, digital assets and future finance, and prevention of new financial scams such as voice phishing, Qshing and deepfakes.
