Galaxy Digital launches research and advisory board to address Bitcoin quantum threat
Crypto investment firm Galaxy Digital has started a programme to prepare for potential quantum-computing threats to Bitcoin, committing up to $5 million. The initiative bundles developer grants, research and a new advisory board aimed at speeding network upgrade readiness. It will fund work such as quantum-resistant transaction proposals, post-quantum signature integration, wallet and custodian migration tools and formal code security audits. Galaxy says the risk is a long-term technical challenge.

MSIT to step up quantum cooperation with Canada, UK and EU around Quantum Korea
South Korea will expand cooperation on quantum technologies with Canada, Britain and the European Union, including joint research, talent exchanges, industrialisation, trials and standardisation. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it held government-to-government dialogues and roundtables around Quantum Korea 2026 to discuss cooperation. It reviewed existing programmes with Canada, discussed links between initiatives with Britain, and talked with the EU about Horizon Europe participation and stronger ties among quantum clusters.

Commercial security services based on advanced AI models spread
Moves by the security industry are accelerating to offer commercial services that use large language models to help public and private organisations detect software vulnerabilities. IBM and OpenAI unveiled an enterprise AI security service, while SoftBank Group launched a product based on OpenAI models. OpenAI updated GPT-5.5-Cyber and expanded partner programmes. Intelligence agencies warned of destructive AI cyber attacks. Companies worldwide also announced new tools, acquisitions, funding and partnerships, including PQC standardisation efforts in South Korea.
