Telecoms step up AI talent training from hackathons to in-house AX education
South Korea’s three telecom operators are accelerating efforts to secure talent to lead AI transformation, as they expand beyond telecoms into AI infrastructure and solutions such as data centres. The companies are widening B2B services built around AI infrastructure and say manpower is needed to connect models, data and cloud infrastructure to services. SK Telecom is expanding project-based programmes and AI security and network training, KT is running long-term and regional courses plus in-house hackathons, and LG Uplus is pushing company-wide AI use.

KT, Palantir wrap up in-house AI hackathon \'Agent Camp\'
KT has worked with global AI company Palantir to identify AI agent projects aimed at solving on-the-job problems and strengthening business-to-business AI transformation capabilities. KT held an in-house AI hackathon, dubbed Agent Camp, from July 13 to 15 at its Bundang office in Seongnam. The event set out three projects, built agents using Palantir Foundry and AIP, and tested their potential for real-world deployment.

KT bets on AX with 18 trillion won investment over three years to grow AIDC and token factory
KT set out a new vision to move beyond its role as a key national telecommunications operator and become an \"AI transition (AX) platform company.\" It plans to expand AI data centres and pursue new businesses such as a token factory and stablecoins. KT will invest about 12 trillion won over three years in information security, IT and networks, and about 5 trillion won to add 1GW of AIDC capacity. It will also invest 1 trillion won to expand undersea cable capacity.
