AMD to ship first rack-scale AI system Helios by year-end; Microsoft joins as new customer
AMD will begin shipping its first rack-scale artificial intelligence system, Helios, to customers from late this year, CNBC reported on July 20. Microsoft is joining as a new customer and plans to use Helios in its data centres for frontier model inference, customer AI workloads and Azure AI services. AMD said Helios integrates GPUs, CPUs, networking and software, and will use MI400-series GPUs and EPYC CPUs.

Microsoft CEO says all companies should build their own AI models
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella (사티아 나델라) has urged companies to build AI models suited to their own needs, Business Insider reported. In an interview with Applied Compute co-founder Yashi Patil, Nadella said there should be as many AI models as there are companies because firms are ultimately learning systems. He warned that concentrating AI in a few models could pose long-term risks to the broader economy.
