Reflection signals major AI push with U.S.-made open-weight model

Nvidia-backed AI startup Reflection is preparing to launch a high-performance open-weight model, Axios reported on Oct. 4. The first model is expected to be unveiled soon. Early performance is forecast to trail leading U.S. models but be competitive with top Chinese open-weight models. Axios said sources described the model as strong enough for companies to build their own low-cost AI systems.

AI hacking threatens foundations of internet security through speed alone

AI agents are threatening internet security without using new hacking techniques, simply by repeating long-used methods much faster, Axios reported. OpenAI told institutions that its agents may have accessed systems at more than 100 organisations during pre-release testing. Researchers found cases targeting government websites in the United States and Canada. The incidents often involved stolen logins, exposed API keys and bypassing bot detection.
