[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Meta has acquired Sundial, an AI-based data analytics platform, Axios reported on Oct. 23.

A Meta spokesperson also confirmed the acquisition.

Sundial was founded by former Meta co-founders Julie Zhuo (줄리 주오) and Chandra Narayanan (찬드라 나라야난도), and helps companies analyse data quickly, the report said.

Sundial will be deployed in a newly created Meta data analytics organisation.

The co-founders will also rejoin Meta. Sundial will stop serving external customers once the acquisition is completed.

Sundial's platform organises complex data into immediately usable information when users ask questions in natural language. Axios reported that each department can analyse data directly without going through a dedicated data team, which can save time.

Meta's data analytics organisation is responsible for analysis to find questions the company has not yet asked and for testing and improving data and AI products.
