Russia EV share tops U.S.? A closer look at the numbers
Battery electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid sales surged in Russia’s new car market, with plug-in models accounting for 11.5 percent of weekly sales in late September, data cited by InsideEVs showed. The rise was linked to worsening gasoline supply disruptions after Ukrainian attacks on Russian refining facilities, which shifted demand toward electric-drive vehicles. Some have said Russia’s EV share has surpassed the United States, but differences in coverage and timing make direct comparisons difficult.
