Sega drops big new \'Super Game\' plan after 5 years as live-service titles struggle
Sega has cancelled its large-scale \'Super Game\' project unveiled 5 years ago, according to its fiscal 2026 results materials. The company cited weak performance in free-to-play and live-service titles such as Sonic Rumble Party and also mentioned the financial burden at Rovio, maker of Angry Birds. Sega had planned to invest about $880 million and target a March 2026 launch. It has moved more than 100 staff and is refocusing on key IP and film projects.
