77 percent of U.S. psychologists say patients use AI for mental health support; dependence, delusion concerns
More than 7 out of 10 U.S. psychologists said they have heard from patients that they use artificial intelligence for mental health support, a survey showed. In a poll of about 1,200 psychologists by the American Psychological Association, 77 percent said patients use AI for emotional support, diagnosis or companionship. Respondents also reported cases of chatbot dependence and distorted thinking or delusions linked to chatbots.
