China EV production costs 35 percent lower than Europe\'s, battery supply chain and development speed drive gap
Production costs for Chinese-brand electric vehicles made in China are on average 35 percent lower than comparable European models, a report cited by InsideEV said. Consulting firm AlixPartners estimated costs at about $20,000 versus $31,000 in Europe. It said the gap reflects structural advantages beyond subsidies, including battery supply chains, energy costs and faster development known as “China speed”. The report warned tariffs alone are unlikely to erase China’s cost edge.

Chinese EV makers shift from price cuts to in-car AI race
Chinese electric vehicle makers are shifting the focus of competition from a prolonged price war to in-car AI features. CNBC reported that rivalry, once centred on battery range, driver assistance systems and automotive chips, is expanding to broader in-car AI functions. Demand for connected services is rising, including interfaces linked to Huawei phones and voice assistants such as Doubao. Companies and partners are accelerating feature integration even as pricing pressure persists.

AI is increasing work? The productivity paradox
Expectations that AI will replace human work are widespread, but some surveys suggest the opposite for now. Workday’s poll of 3,200 enterprise AI users found 85 percent saved 1 to 7 hours a week, yet 37 percent of the time saved was spent reworking AI outputs. Only 14 percent reported consistently positive results. HBR flagged “workslop,” while a separate survey found CEOs widely expect AI-driven layoffs within five years despite limited productivity gains so far.
