Cybersecurity race intensifies in AI era; defense automation seen as answer
As artificial intelligence spreads and cyber threats grow, security systems should shift toward automation and self-reliance, speakers said at an Information Security Day event in Seoul. Korea University professor Sang-geun Lee said hacking could become routine by 2028 and that gaps in defense automation would widen differences in response capabilities. Other speakers warned AI itself is a new attack surface and called for AI governance, guardrails, logging and agent orchestration, while officials highlighted cooperation and recognition of security contributors.

Security must be close to data, Snowflake role set to grow
Snowflake Chief Security and Trust Officer Mayank Upadhyay said security must be built into the data platform and become part of normal workflows. He said Snowflake is approaching AI security in three layers: protecting large language models, managing agent identity and permissions, and securing the data layer. He highlighted the Horizon Guardrails product and the Natoma acquisition, and stressed fast feedback loops, data sovereignty and zero data retention.

Snowflake expands security push, says agentic AI security needs fundamentally different approach
Snowflake unveiled a slate of new security products at its Snowflake Summit 26 annual conference in San Francisco, focusing on a security model for the agentic era and implementing zero-trust security for AI agents. The company introduced agent identity management, AI security posture management, ransomware and data exfiltration prevention, and prompt injection protection. It framed its strategy around secure guardrails, centralised governance, and data and AI protection.
