Broadcast media telecoms commission fails to launch hearing on YTN top shareholder as opposition members boycott
South Korea’s Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Commission was unable to vote to begin a hearing on whether to cancel approval of Eugene ENT’s change in its status as YTN’s largest shareholder after failing to meet a quorum. Opposition-nominated members Choi Soo-young and Lee Sang-geun refused to take part and left, saying courts should rule first. Remaining members said a hearing is needed to hear the company’s views and pledged to revisit the issue.

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission approved conditional renewals for 17 radio stations run by three broadcasters, setting licence validity at three years.
