Personal data protection master plan announced to support trust-based AI innovation

South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission on Thursday announced a third basic master plan for personal data protection for 2027 to 2029 as a joint agenda item with relevant ministries at an economic ministers\' meeting. The plan sets out a vision of a trusted data environment and an AI society. It includes four strategies and 12 tasks, including redesigning rules for AI, strengthening prevention-focused protections, upgrading policy and expanding remedies and rights safeguards.

MSIT seeks to convert 8 non-capital SW-focused universities into AI-focused universities

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on July 2 it will announce a project to convert eight software-focused universities outside the Seoul metropolitan area into AI-focused universities. The application period runs from July 3 to Aug. 4. The government plans to support region-led AI transformation and train AI talent tailored to local industries at an early stage. An information session will be held on July 14 in Daejeon.

Douzone TV surpasses 100,000 subscribers within six months of launch

Douzone Bizon said on Wednesday that its business media channel Douzone TV surpassed 100,000 YouTube subscribers about six months after its grand opening in January. The company said the channel minimized corporate brand exposure and instead highlighted practical information needed in workplaces, including tax, accounting, HR and AI transformation. It plans to add short-form entertainment content and expand live programming in the second half.
