Mark Cuban proposes federal AI token tax, says it could boost efficiency and revenue
U.S. billionaire investor Mark Cuban proposed a federal-level “AI token tax” on AI service operators. MS GitHub Copilot ditches monthly flat fee, adopts AI credits with usage-based charges
GitHub will shift the pricing of its AI coding tool GitHub Copilot to a usage-based system from June, replacing a monthly flat-fee structure. From June 1, all Copilot plans will use GitHub AI Credits, which are deducted when AI features are used and trigger additional charges once exhausted. Core code completion and Next Edit Suggestions will remain included and will not consume credits. Monthly subscription prices will stay unchanged.
