Kakao Mobility launches hiring for autonomous driving R&D talent
Kakao Mobility is starting recruitment of R&D talent to internalise end-to-end autonomous driving technology, opening a new “Physical AI” tab on its hiring page. It is hiring for four core roles spanning hardware, electrical and electronic systems, and software including AI and SLAM, targeting candidates with at least 5 years’ experience. The company is running ongoing hiring, with an intensive recruitment period through March 29.

Kakao Mobility to aggressively pursue E2E autonomous driving commercialisation
Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-son said the company is aggressively building a pipeline to commercialise end-to-end autonomous driving using real-time road data and platform operations expertise. Kakao Mobility said it held a forum with lawmaker Jung Joon-ho on AI autonomous driving demonstration cities. The company has joined the AI Future Car M.AX Alliance and set up a Physical AI division led by former Waymo executive Kim Jin-gyu. The transport ministry plans to deploy about 200 AI autonomous vehicles in Gwangju from the second half of the year.

Kakao Mobility speeds shift to physical AI company after legal risks ease
Kakao Mobility has moved past years of legal risk after prosecutors concluded there was no wrongdoing in two cases involving a taxi dispatch system and alleged violations of accounting standards. With a remaining allegation over call blocking, the company is expected to speed its shift from a platform operator to a physical AI company centered on autonomous driving. It has amassed about 30,000 km of driving data and reorganised to launch a physical AI division led by Kim Jin-kyu.
