Ransomware attacks spread, spotlight falls on world of ransom negotiators

The Financial Times reported growing demand for negotiators at major security firms such as Palo Alto Networks and Sophos. Negotiators aim to buy time, support executive decisions and gather information on attackers, and payment is not always required. Talks can last from 3 days to 3 weeks via dark web portals, email or encrypted messaging.

Samchundang Pharm scraps 250 billion won block deal, denies stock manipulation allegations

Samchundang Pharm moved to explain controversy over alleged stock manipulation and a Korea Exchange notice of possible sanctions for inadequate disclosure. Chief executive Jeon In-seok cancelled a planned 250 billion won block deal to sell a major shareholder stake, saying the sale was intended to pay taxes of 233.5 billion won. He said he will instead pay the taxes through a stock-backed loan and focus on proving management performance. He also apologised for poor communication and pledged greater transparency.

National AI strategy committee checks AX infrastructure in Daegu, Ulsan

South Korea's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee said on Sunday it visited Daegu and Ulsan to check implementation of the AI Action Plan and review the status of regional AI transformation industries. The trip included inspections of AX projects in Daegu’s Suseong Alpha City and robotics testing facilities, and a visit to a SK and Amazon Web Services-backed data center construction site in Ulsan. Companies cited costs, resource constraints and regulatory burdens.
