Mega MGC Coffee signs MOU with CJ ENM on performance and cultural activities

MGC Global, which operates Mega MGC Coffee, said on Feb. 13 it signed a memorandum of understanding with CJ ENM on social contribution through performance and cultural activities. Executives from both sides attended a signing ceremony in Seoul on Feb. 12. The companies agreed to work to improve access to performances and cultural activities and provide cultural experiences to local communities and underprivileged groups. They plan a K-pop concert in May.

Broadcast media telecoms commission normalisation delayed again as parliament fails to table nomination motion

Efforts to normalise South Korea’s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission were delayed again after a motion to recommend members was not tabled at a parliamentary plenary session, political sources said on Feb. 13. The People Power Party boycotted the session in protest over bills that cleared the Legislation and Judiciary Committee. The seven-member panel currently has only two presidential appointees, leaving it short of the four members needed to deliberate and vote.

Broadcast media and telecom review body nears normalisation while commission still adrift

South Korea's Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Review Committee is closer to resuming operations than the Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Commission. A lawmaker said the president appointed five committee members on Friday, bringing the total appointed to eight, with one ruling party nominee still pending. The nine-member body can deliberate and decide if at least four members attend. The commission, launched in October, has yet to complete its membership after four months.
