IITP announces 2026 TOPCIT software competency test plan

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information and Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP) announced on Feb. 13 the 2026 implementation plan for the software competency test TOPCIT. The regular assessment will be conducted twice a year, in the first and second halves. TOPCIT will introduce new indicators for emerging technologies such as AI and data and increase the weight of technical areas, while revising the question structure to emphasize practical skills.

AI digital twin startup Simily raises $100 million

AI digital twin startup Simily has raised $100 million, SiliconANGLE reported on Feb. 12 local time. Index Ventures led the round, with participation from Bain Capital Ventures, AI researcher Fei-Fei Li and OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy. Simily develops digital twins that use AI to predict people’s behavior, aiming to replace consumer research and cut time and costs. It can also be used for UI tests and earnings-call question forecasts.

Checkpoint to buy three security startups from AI to MSP

Checkpoint is buying three startups for a combined $150 million, SiliconANGLE reported on Feb. 12. It has agreed to acquire Tel Aviv-based Cyclops Security for $85 million. Cyclops developed a data lake platform that analyzes cybersecurity data across enterprise infrastructure to identify risks. Checkpoint is also buying Cyata Security, which sets AI agent security guardrails, and Rotait, which develops a security platform for managed service providers.
