Naver and the Korean National Police Agency signed an agreement to prevent and eradicate telecom-based financial fraud. Naver said it will run a three-layer prevention system using its AI and security capabilities to support police prevention efforts. Measures include training spam-filtering AI with the latest fraud data, issuing warnings and taking pre-emptive actions on suspicious posts, fast-tracking restrictions on accounts and users linked to blocked scam phone numbers, and building an automatic system to detect and deter malicious apps.

An analysis says bitcoin was designed as a digital currency, but how widely it is used for payments remains unclear. Data are fragmented, and many transactions go through processors or crypto cards that convert bitcoin into local currency, making direct use hard to measure. Surveys show some crypto holders have paid for goods and services, but do not isolate bitcoin. El Salvador’s adoption has not led to broad retail use. Use appears concentrated in larger online and cross-border purchases.
