Delivery apps' monthly payments top 3 trillion won as users and spending rise

Estimated payments at South Korea’s four major delivery platforms totalled 3.03 trillion won last month, up 10 percent from a year earlier, a Wiseapp-Retail survey of credit and debit card spending showed. The number of Koreans who paid on delivery platforms rose 7 percent to 24.85 million. Average payment per person increased 3 percent to 122,349 won, while average transactions per person rose to 5.4 from 5.

Baemin teams up with Jangs Food on exclusive menus and marketing

Woowa Brothers, operator of South Korean delivery app Baedal Minjok, is expanding cooperation with Jangs Food, which runs 60gye Chicken and Stella Tteokbokki. Woowa Brothers said it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding to boost platform synergies and raise franchisee sales. The partnership covers advertising, marketing promotions, exclusive new menu launches and pickup services. The companies also plan data sharing and analysis to improve service quality and provide consulting and marketing support to stores.

LG Uplus handles 870,000 SIM replacements and updates in a week

LG Uplus has processed about 870,000 cases of SIM card updates and free replacements in a week as it rolls out measures for all subscribers amid controversy over the design of its International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI). The company said the cumulative total reached 868,964 cases as of April 20, including 491,638 SIM replacements and 377,326 updates. The cumulative replacement rate was 5.1 percent.
