Standard Chartered, a UK-based multinational bank, is accelerating its entry into the cryptocurrency market. Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 12 local time, citing Bloomberg, that the bank is considering developing a cryptocurrency brokerage platform.

Bloomberg reported that Standard Chartered is discussing setting up a cryptocurrency trading and brokerage platform through its venture capital arm, SC Ventures.

No specific launch schedule was disclosed. Standard Chartered is not providing specific confirmation on the matter.

In July 2025, Standard Chartered launched a service that allows institutions and companies to trade major cryptocurrencies. The move comes as major financial firms test or expand cryptocurrency-related services and is drawing attention. Investment bank Morgan Stanley recently applied to launch its third cryptocurrency ETF, an ethereum (ETH) ETF.
