Meta is changing its internal communications tool from Google Chat to Slack. Business Insider reported on Monday that Alexandre Wang (알렉산드르 왕), Meta’s AI chief, informed staff of the policy in an internal memo this week.
The reason was that Slack is more suitable for using AI agents.
In the memo, Wang said Slack is the strongest of the agent platforms currently available. He cited its rich conversational interface, mature developer tools and strong third-party integrations as strengths.
The decision is seen as a major win for Salesforce, which owns Slack. Salesforce has continued large-scale investment in AI functions and products after acquiring Slack in 2021 for $27.7 billion.
Salesforce shares have fallen over the past year amid concerns that AI agents could replace existing workplace software. But last week, the stock jumped about 23 percent in a single day after it expanded its partnership with Anthropic and issued an impressive earnings report.
