It was the highest October figure. Online shopping has maintained steady long‑term growth as online consumption expands.
Food service transactions rose 13.6 percent in October. The office said the increase reflected the use of consumer recovery coupons and local currency on public delivery apps along with app‑run discount events.
Tesla’s new product releases continued to lift demand, driving a 38.6 percent rise in automotive and auto accessories.
Food and beverage sales grew 4.4 percent, influenced by the Chuseok holiday period.
Cultural and leisure service transactions fell 22.2 percent as performance and concert numbers declined during the long holiday.
Food service made up 15.7 percent of the total, the largest share. It was followed by food and beverages at 13.4 percent and travel and transport services at 12.8 percent.
Mobile shopping reached 17.7 trillion won, up 5.9 percent. It accounted for 78 percent of all online transactions.
