Samsung Electronics said on Aug. 26 that it unveiled four 2027 "Odyssey" gaming monitors at Gamescom 2026, a gaming event that opened in Cologne, Germany.

The products are the 49-inch "Odyssey OLED G9", the 32-inch "Odyssey OLED G8", the 42-inch "Odyssey OLED G7" and the 27-inch "Odyssey G6". Samsung Electronics held an event titled "#PlaySamsung: A New Era of Gaming Displays" at its booth at 10:30 a.m. local time on Aug. 27 to introduce the new models.

The "Odyssey OLED G9" is a 49-inch curved monitor that supports a 360Hz refresh rate, the first of its kind in the world. It features a fifth-generation "QD-OLED Penta Tandem" panel and has a 0.03 millisecond response time (GtG). It can switch between Dual QHD 360Hz and Dual HD 720Hz modes, and has a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.

The "Odyssey OLED G8" supports a "triple mode" that lets users choose from three resolutions and refresh rates on a single monitor. It offers 4K resolution at 360Hz as standard and can switch to QHD 520Hz and FHD 680Hz. It is equipped with DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR 20) with up to 80Gbps bandwidth.

The "Odyssey OLED G7" is the world's first 42-inch OLED gaming monitor, with about 72 percent more screen area than the previous 32-inch model. The "Odyssey G6" supports QHD resolution at 600Hz as standard on a 27-inch screen, and in dual-mode switching it delivers an ultra-high refresh rate of 1,100Hz (based on HD), the first in the world.

Samsung Electronics plans to support "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Kronos: The New Dawn" in 3D mode within this year through its glasses-free 3D monitor "Odyssey 3D" and to expand compatible games to more than 120 by the end of 2026. It also applied "HDR10+ Gaming" technology to "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4" in collaboration with Activision Blizzard, and plans to increase supported games to more than 20 by the first half of 2027.

Lee Heon (이헌), a vice president of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business, said, "At Gamescom, the world's largest gaming festival, we unveiled a large number of next-generation display technologies, from the world's first 360Hz 49-inch OLED to gaming monitors with ultra-high refresh rates of up to 1,100Hz." He said, "We will continue to introduce products that will lead the gaming display market."
