More than 30 million Coupang customer records were found leaked, prompting the National Assembly to launch emergency inquiries led by the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee and the Strategy and Finance Committee.

The Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee will hold a full session on December 2 to examine the cause of the breach and measures to prevent a recurrence. The Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Internet and Security Agency, and Coupang executives including Chief Executive Park Dae-joon and security officials will attend.

The Strategy and Finance Committee will hold a full session on the afternoon of December 3 to question the Personal Information Protection Commission, the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service, the Fair Trade Commission, and Coupang. A key issue will be why the number of leaked records, which Coupang initially reported as 4,536, was confirmed during the investigation as 33,790,000.

The Ministry of Science and ICT formed a public-private joint task force the previous day and began work to analyse the cause of the breach and prepare prevention measures.
