KB Financial Group said on Wednesday it has released a teaser video for its 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation campaign, “Rewriting ‘Korea Lived On’.” The official track features music director Jung Jae-il (정재일) and singer Lee Juck (이적).

KB Financial launched the campaign to reinterpret the spirit of independence activists in a modern sensibility and pass it on to future generations to mark the 80th anniversary of liberation.

It explained that it added Jung’s arrangement and Lee’s voice to lyrics by Mr. Han Sung-il, selected as the top prize winner in a lyrics contest held last year, to capture longing and gratitude for “ordinary days” that independence activists could not enjoy.

The full video will be released at 6 p.m. on Feb. 27 on official social media channels, and the official track will be released on music sites from 6 p.m. on March 1.

KB Financial said it plans to raise donations of 2,026 won for each share and “like” of the full video from Feb. 27 through the end of this year, and also support small business owners who are descendants of independence patriots.

Jung said, "It is meaningful to take part in this campaign again," and added, "I wanted to set melodies to lyrics by people living in this era."

Lee said, "Because the lyrics contain the sincerity of so many people, I wanted to sing without forgetting the weight," and added, "I repeatedly reflected on how to convey the resonance of 'ordinary days.'"

A KB Financial official said, "What the independence activists tried to protect was 'ordinary days' spent with loved ones," and added, "We want to carry on the sincerity from 100 years ago with the melodies of 2026 and deliver it to future generations."
