[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Physical AI company XYZ said on Wednesday it has been selected as a key participating institution in the Ministry of Science and ICT’s consortium for a homegrown AI foundation model.
XYZ collects and processes Physical AI data through its own infrastructure and devices. It will apply the foundation model to its semi-humanoid robot, DEUX, and will be responsible for on-site validation and rollout.
The Motif Technologies consortium, which XYZ is participating in, is made up of AI infrastructure, data building and academia. Within the group, XYZ will be responsible for applying VLA (Vision-Language-Action) based robotics.
XYZ will provide the foundation model’s training with large-scale real-world environment data accumulated from robots it operates across the country. It will also support improving the Physical AI model’s performance by collecting multimodal interaction data between people and robots, and dexterous manipulation data using its in-house GloveX device.
The government plans to check model performance through step-by-step evaluations and select the final recipient of support through a competitive process.
