Toss Bank has expanded the scope of its digital braille service for visually impaired customers to cover lending, deposit and card services.

Toss Bank said on Wednesday it has expanded its digital braille service, first applied to passbook copies in April, to major certificates issued in lending, deposits and cards.

The company said Toss Bank is the first internet-only bank to introduce a digital braille service.

The service was developed following requests from visually impaired customers. Last year, a request was submitted asking that a digital braille file be provided together when receiving financial documents by email from Toss Bank, and the bank developed its own digital braille conversion logic and solution.

After applying the service first to passbook copies, which are frequently issued, it has sequentially broadened the scope to major certificates related to lending, deposits and cards.

Toss Bank is also improving screen reader usability to increase financial accessibility for visually impaired customers in the app. It explained that in financial documents, it is also advancing its digital braille conversion technology using AI technology and other tools.

A Toss Bank official said, "We will continue to look at barriers customers face in the process of using financial services and improve them through technology."
